BATTLE CREEK CHORUS EARNS SECOND PLACE IN REGIONAL CONTEST
Battle Creek, MI – May 20, 2023 … The Battle Creek Chorus - Sweet Adelines (BCC), under the direction of Certified Harmony 500 Director Lynne Erskine Peirce, recently returned from Great Lakes Harmony Region 17 Competition May 19-20 in Cleveland, Ohio and was awarded 2023 – Second Place, Division A and placed Seventh overall. Twelve Choruses competed on stage at the Hilton Cleveland Convention Center.

Great Lakes Harmony Region 17 is comprised of parts of Indiana, Michigan, New York, Ohio and Pennsylvania and has over 700 members in 22 choruses and over 30 registered quartets.
BCC practices regularly Mondays from 6:45 PM – 9:15 PM at Woodland Church in Battle Creek and encourages prospective members to attend a rehearsal to learn a unique form of a cappella singing in the barbershop style. BCC is celebrating their 64th Anniversary as a member of Sweet Adelines International. Founded in Tulsa, Okla., in 1945, SAI is a nonprofit musical education association. Founded in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in 1945, Sweet Adelines started as a small group of women who loved to sing. Since then, it has evolved into an organization that spans the globe connecting thousands of singers around the world in song. They’re dedicated to preserving the unique sound of a cappella barbershop harmony, sharing their passion for music and empowering our communities.
A Sweet Adelines Chorus is a musical asset to its community. With more than 500 Sweet Adelines chapters located throughout the U.S. and 14 other nations, the organization empowers 21,000+ members around the world to grow musically, socially and individually as they perfect the art of a cappella, four-part harmony. Performances and competitions allow members to grow in their confidence on and off stage, and for decades the organization has proudly perpetuated barbershop music — one of a few forms of music native to the United States.
