Our chorus was chartered May 27, 1959 with a beginning of 21 names on the charter. Currently, we are a group of women who gather each Monday evening at 6:30 pm at Woodland Church on Helmer Road in Battle Creek MI. Gathering to sing … sharing the harmony of friendship and song, 4-part acapella, barbershop style. We are singers having a great time learning and preparing for shows, competitions and performances. The Battle Creek Chorus is part of Sweet Adelines International, the world's largest singing and music education organization for women. We are part of Great Lakes Harmony Region 17, which includes Southern Michigan, Eastern Indiana, Northern Ohio, Western New York, and Western Pennsylvania. Visit their website
Participation in annual regional competition determines who will represent our region at the international level contest. This is a wonderful experience, and all the preparation that goes into our competition package helps us to improve our vocal and performing skills. Our repertoire includes a wide variety of contemporary songs. We are an award-winning chorus, placing in our annual competition, for many years. We have many singers who do not read music and this is NOT a requirement to join our Chorus family. You need to match pitch and carry a tune. Call if you like to sing, and consider becoming a part of something extraordinary. Please contact Patty Kanaga (336) 207-2398, [email protected], our Membership Coordinator.
